Better surfaces for rapid prototyping, castings and prototypes

Improve the mechanical strength and protection from abrasion of stereo lithography (SLA) and laser-sintered prototypes by metal casings.

In many cases rapid prototyping components and additive manufactured parts do not meet the requirements in terms of their mechanical strength, heat resistance and resistance to scratching and abrasion.

By a metal coating the mechanical strength of Rapid Prototyping workpieces can be increased.

Furthermore, the components are resistant to short-term exposure to elevated temperatures and scratch resistant.

This is especially important for the use of generative parts in rapid manufacturing. Metallic sheaths increases the tensile strength and the elastic modulus significantly.

The strength of the applied layer can be freely adjusted in wide ranges. This makes it possible for us to offer customized solutions.

In the illustrated image shows a component built in DSM Somos Nano™ . This was provided by our services with a metal shell to increase the mechanical strength. By varying the Matallanteils increasing the tensile strength of 780 N is possible initially to 2.6 kN.
